How can I make my dog eat his food and not protect it and tease my other dog?
I have a 2 year old pit/boxer and when I got him I was told he was very food aggressive with other dogs. One day my kitten went to get water when my dog was eating and he thought the kitten was trying to steal his food, so he attacked the cat. He got some good spankings, and now he lets the kitten eat his food. I recently got a puppy who tries to steal his food, and at first he lets him, but now he has been being weird about his food. He wont eat if hes in a different room than the puppy, and he waits until the puppy has finished eating to even take a bite of his own food. He will just sit there and wait until the puppy tries to steal his food, and then he will growl or push the puppy out of the way. Never no biting or anything though. And then he takes a bite or two and waits for the puppy to take his food again. So it takes forever for him to finish eating. I have tried taking his food away after 10 minutes, but hes so stubborn he doesnt care if he goes a couple days without food. Hes been to the vet, nothing wrong with him.
Dogs dont care about you taking away their food. They don’t learn lessons the same way a child does.
You have to be more realistic in your approach. What does a dog understand? Immediate response.
Wait for the older dog to act, and you immediately react. The older one will learn, so long as you are the alpha.

try putting him in a separate room with you we have to do it with our dogs and seems to work!

he can go a week without food as long as he has water to drink. i would put him in a different room. if he doesnt eat anything after 10-15 mins, take his food away and offer it to him later in the day. try it out. it just might work =)

so let him go a few days without food.. he will learn that either he eats his meal when its given to him, or he goes without.
If he cant eat it within 10-15 minutes, then he’s done. He’s not going to starve himself.
