It was based off a short story by Stephen King, I beleive the story was called 4 seasons or it was in an anthology of that title. Definitely read the story though, you an find it in your local library.
I personally liked how it showed two different extremes how Prison can "institutionalize" or break you which would be Brooks, or How some who are strong enough like Andy never can be broken.
